About James A
James A Goldstein has practiced law for more than four decades. He began his academic path at Union College and earned his J.D. from Emory University in 1980. That year marks the start of his membership in the Georgia State Bar, a status he has maintained ever since. His education gave him the credentials to enter courtrooms at the state and federal level.
He is admitted to practice in Georgia and in several federal forums, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect a career that has included appellate filings and work in federal trial courts. Over the years he has handled contested matters that proceeded to argument rather than settling on paper.
Goldstein built his practice in Atlanta. He is a senior partner at Goldstein & Hayes, PC, where he has worked on personal injury and trial litigation. He represents plaintiffs in cases that require courtroom advocacy. He has maintained a trial practice and prepared cases for jury resolution, handling the procedural and evidentiary demands those matters require.
Peers and organizations have recognized his courtroom work. Listings and distinctions include Top 100 Georgia Trial Lawyers from The American Trial Lawyers Association, selection in Fortune Magazine’s “Pre-Eminent Lawyers in the United States,” inclusion in the Bar Registry of Pre-Eminent Lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell, and placement among the Top 100 Lawyers in Georgia by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He has also been identified as an “Advocate” by the National College of Advocacy’s Achievement Recognition Program. In 2010 he received a ceremonial commission as a Kentucky Colonel from Governor Steven L. Beshear.
His professional memberships track his trial practice. He holds current memberships in the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Georgia State Bar. He is associated with the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and is connected to Ten Leaders, a plaintiff’s personal injury law group in Atlanta. He also participates in organizations outside traditional bar groups, such as the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.
