About Jad Jamal

Jad Jamal Khalaf pursued a varied academic path before entering the law. He earned an associate degree at Southwest Mississippi Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi College. He then completed a Juris Doctor at Mississippi College School of Law. His studies also include a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Louisiana Baptist University.

Those academic steps produced an uncommon combination of legal training and theological study. The law degree prepared him for courtroom work and case analysis. The M.Div. and Ph.D. contributed additional perspective on ethics, history and textual interpretation. Colleagues note that his background gives him a broad frame for handling complex questions that can arise in litigation and client counseling.

Khalaf began practicing law after finishing his J.D. and later co-founded Khalaf & Nguyen, PLLC. He serves as Co-Founder and Managing Partner at that firm. In that role he oversees daily operations and helps set firm strategy. He also participates directly in client matters and case development alongside the other lawyers in the office.

He is admitted to practice in Mississippi and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in state courts across Mississippi and to argue appeals at the federal circuit level when appropriate. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Mississippi Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice and the American Bar Association.

Outside of the courtroom, his training spans several fields. The Ph.D. and divinity work sit alongside traditional legal study. That combination informs how he evaluates evidence, prepares witnesses and frames legal arguments. It also shapes how he manages client relationships and communicates complex legal concepts in plain terms.

Khalaf’s practice is based at Khalaf & Nguyen, PLLC, where he continues in his role as managing partner and active litigator. He is currently engaged in general litigation and appellate work through the firm, handling matters that arise in state court and on appeal in the Fifth Circuit.
