About Jacque

Jacque Wilson combined an early interest in how things work with formal legal training. She earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and later received her J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. The pair of degrees gives her a technical grounding that informs her legal work.

After law school Wilson moved into intellectual property practice. She is a registered patent lawyer at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is authorized to practice in Indiana. Her background in mechanical engineering and her registration at the USPTO shape a practice that sits at the intersection of technology and law.

Wilson’s day-to-day work centers on patent prosecution and related counseling. She prepares and prosecutes patent applications for mechanical and engineering inventions, drafts claims, and advises clients on prior art and patentability. She also assists inventors in translating technical concepts into legal descriptions that meet patent office requirements. Her engineering training helps her read technical disclosures and discuss design intent with inventors and engineers.

Her professional affiliations reflect both her technical and legal interests. Wilson holds memberships in the Allen County Bar, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the National Society of Black Engineers. Those connections give her access to engineering communities and local legal networks alike. They also inform how she approaches client matters, by staying current on technical developments alongside shifts in patent practice.

At Carson Boxberger LLP, Wilson works with clients in the manufacturing, mechanical systems, and technology sectors. She represents individuals and small companies through the patent prosecution process, from initial assessment to filing and follow-up with the Patent Office. Her role involves drafting specifications, responding to office actions, and advising on filing strategies that align with clients’ business goals.

Colleagues say she brings an engineer’s attention to detail to legal analyses, and clients rely on her ability to explain technical issues in plain terms. She organizes technical material into patent-ready formats and helps clients understand the practical implications of filing choices. Her work is steady and procedural, focusing on securing enforceable intellectual property rights for technical inventions.

Wilson currently practices at Carson Boxberger LLP, where her work focuses on patent prosecution and technology-related legal matters.
