About Jacob N
Jacob N Tingen earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2012. He moved into practice soon after law school and began building a career that combined courtroom work and firm leadership. His early years in practice set the tone for a steady progression into roles that required both legal judgment and administrative oversight.
In 2012 he took on a managing partner role at Tingen & Williams, PLLC. That position placed him at the center of a small firm’s daily demands. He handled casework while overseeing operations, billing and client relations. Those responsibilities shaped his approach to running a law office and managing client expectations.
Nearly a decade later, in 2021, he became managing partner at Tingen Law, PLLC. The move reflected a continuity of leadership and an effort to consolidate practice under a new firm name. As managing partner, he has been responsible for setting firm policies, supervising litigation strategy, and coordinating outside counsel when cases require additional resources.
Tingen is admitted to practice in Virginia and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He appears in filings and hearings in state courts and handles appeals and federal matters that fall within the Fourth Circuit’s jurisdiction. His courtroom experience includes drafting briefs, arguing motions and preparing clients for hearings. The combination of trial-level and appellate work informs how he approaches case development and client counseling.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and direct. He favors clear analysis over ornate legal theory. In practice he balances the demands of client representation with the administrative tasks that come with running a firm. He has handled matters that required coordination among multiple parties and has worked on cases that progressed from initial pleadings through dispositive motions and appeals.
Outside the office he maintains professional connections that began early in his career. He has retained active ties to peers and the local bar since his entry into practice. Those networks supply referrals and occasional collaborative opportunities on more complex files.
He now leads Tingen Law, PLLC from its office in Virginia, overseeing case intake, trial preparation and appellate work. He currently focuses on managing the firm and representing clients in matters before Virginia courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
