About Jacob L.
Jacob L. Benguerel began his professional path at the intersection of law enforcement and legal study. He earned a J.D. from Humphreys College after completing a B.A. at California State University, Stanislaus. Before law school he trained at the Simon Police Academy, an experience that would shape the early years of his career.
His first roles were in county government. In 2006 he worked as a detention officer and probation assistant for the San Joaquin County Probation Department. The following year he served as a law clerk with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department. Those roles gave him on-the-ground experience with custody, supervision and the procedures of county law enforcement.
In 2008 he opened JLB Law Office and has run it since. The transition from county roles to private practice came quickly. He moved from operational work in probation and detention to representing clients and managing a small firm. His courtroom and client work grew out of the practical duties he carried as a clerk and probation assistant.
Benguerel is admitted to practice in California. He maintains professional ties inside the community he serves. He is a member of the San Joaquin County Bar Association and serves on the Downtown Stockton Alliance Board of Directors. Those affiliations reflect engagement in both legal and civic circles in Stockton and the surrounding county.
Colleagues and peers describe his background as informed by both legal training and field experience. He brings the perspective of someone who has seen how municipal systems operate, from detention facilities to county law offices. That perspective informs how he evaluates cases and advises clients.
At JLB Law Office he handles matters that draw on his prior work with law enforcement and probation officials. He manages the administrative responsibilities of running a small practice while also taking on individual client matters. His work requires balancing case preparation, client counseling and the routine tasks of a solo office.
Outside the office he participates in local bar activities and contributes to downtown Stockton initiatives through the alliance board. He remains active in the legal community in San Joaquin County. He currently practices at JLB Law Office and handles cases that reflect his experience in law enforcement and probation.
