About J. Wesley
J. Wesley Kocsis combines a liberal arts grounding in government with a formal legal education that culminated in a J.D. at the turn of the century. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government & Law from Lafayette College in 1997 and completed his law degree at Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2000. Those years of study laid out the basic contours of a career spent practicing law in the Northeast.
His undergraduate work emphasized the relationship between public institutions and private citizens. At Widener, classroom work and clinic experience sharpened his understanding of procedure and advocacy. The two degrees make a straightforward academic narrative: a student of government who moved quickly into professional legal training and then into practice.
After earning his J.D., Kocsis gained admission to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. He now operates through the Kocsis Law Office. The office bears his name and serves as the platform for his client work and litigation. Over time he has managed the practical demands of running a small law office, balancing casework with the administrative responsibilities that come with managing a practice.
In day-to-day practice he advises and represents clients in matters that arise under state law in the jurisdictions where he is admitted. He draws on courtroom experience and written advocacy skills developed during law school and honed through years of practice. His background in government studies also informs how he evaluates regulatory and municipal questions when those issues intersect with private disputes.
Colleagues and clients describe his approach as direct and professional. He prepares written pleadings, argues motions, and handles negotiations when cases move toward resolution. He also attends to the routine but necessary tasks of client counseling, file management, and trial preparation. That practical orientation reflects the demands of running a solo or small-firm practice in multiple state jurisdictions.
Outside of the office he has maintained a steady presence in the local legal community, practicing across Pennsylvania and New York. He has continued to adapt as court procedures and rules evolve. He keeps his practice centered on delivering clear legal advice and pursuing client objectives through litigation or negotiated solutions.
He currently practices from Kocsis Law Office, representing clients in matters in Pennsylvania and New York.
