J. Craig Williams is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California, Iowa, Massachusetts, and Washington. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1988, the Iowa State Bar in 1987, the Massachusetts State Bar in 2004, and the Washington State Bar in 2005. His license status in each jurisdiction is active. Mr. Williams is the founder of WLC | The Williams Law Corporation, a law firm located in Irvine, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients across multiple states.
Mr. Williams earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1987. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at James Madison University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts in 1979. During his time at the University of Iowa, he graduated with distinction and received the American Jurisprudence award for Professional Responsibility.
Mr. Williams concentrates his practice in the areas of business litigation, environmental law, intellectual property, real estate law, and labor matters. He represents individuals and businesses in complex business disputes, environmental compliance issues, intellectual property protection, real estate transactions, and labor-related matters. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Williams has handled cases in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth, Ninth, and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also appeared before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for The Armed Forces, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as a partner at Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP in their Orange County office, where he specialized in complex business litigation with an emphasis on environmental, intellectual property, real estate, technology law, and labor matters.
Mr. Williams is a member of the California State Bar, the Iowa State Bar, the Massachusetts State Bar, and the Washington State Bar. He is also a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has lectured as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa College of Law on trial advocacy, Stanford Law School on environmental insurance coverage, Chapman University School of Law on legal writing and research, and the University of California at Irvine on toxics law. He has maintained strong ties with James Madison University since his college days and has been recognized in "OCMetro Magazine" as "O.C.'s Top Lawyers" in the area of litigation.
