About J. Brad Kallmyer

J. Brad Kallmyer MD holds degrees in both medicine and law. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Earlham College in 1984, earned his M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1988 and later returned to school for a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, graduating in 2005 with studies in health law. His academic path ties clinical training directly to legal education.

After medical school, Kallmyer spent years in the medical field before moving into law. The shift to law culminated in a law degree that emphasized the legal contours of health care. In 2007 he worked as a lawyer at Montross Miller. That role came early in his legal career and represents a bridge between his medical background and courtroom practice.

Kallmyer is licensed in Indiana and admitted to practice before both the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. He maintains membership in the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Those memberships place him among attorneys who engage with local and state professional networks and trial practice resources.

His dual training informs how he approaches matters that touch on clinical standards, medical records and regulatory questions. He can read a chart and recognize the clinical issues. He also understands how those issues play out under state and federal rules. That combination allows him to address disputes where medicine and law intersect without relying solely on outside explanation of the clinical facts.

Colleagues and clients might note that Kallmyer brings an analytical style shaped by science. He organizes complex factual materials into a sequence that is accessible in depositions and court filings. In courtroom settings he has experience presenting technical subjects to judges and juries. His background helps frame medical evidence in ways that are intended to be clear, rather than technical for its own sake.

Kallmyer continues to work in legal matters that involve health care, medicine and related regulatory issues. He practices in Indiana and appears in federal court in both of the state’s districts. His current practice focuses on health-related legal matters in Indiana.
