About Ira

Ira Treuhaft earned his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1999. He went on to complete his legal studies at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2002. Those formative years gave him a grounding in legal research, statutory interpretation and the historical context that often shapes courtroom disputes.

After law school, Treuhaft built a practice across the two states where he holds licenses: New Jersey and New York. He has handled matters in state courts and before administrative bodies, and he has advised individual and business clients on issues that arise under state law. His career path has kept him close to the practical questions that push cases from client counseling to litigation.

Treuhaft’s work has required him to move between transactional matters and contested proceedings. He has prepared pleadings, negotiated settlements and appeared in hearings. He also spends time drafting legal memoranda and advising clients on risk and compliance issues tied to state regulations. The mix of written advocacy and oral argument is a regular part of his daily practice.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and steady in the courtroom. He relies on careful preparation and on-the-ground knowledge of procedural rules in both New Jersey and New York. That procedural fluency helps in scheduling, motion practice and trial planning. He has developed a pragmatic approach to client problems, weighing the costs and benefits of possible courses of action and making those trade-offs clear to the people he represents.

Treuhaft maintains an office at 411 Hackensack Avenue, where he meets with clients and prepares for matters pending in state venues. He continues to practice in the jurisdictions where he is admitted and to represent clients on matters arising under New Jersey and New York law. He currently maintains an office at 411 Hackensack Avenue and focuses his practice on matters in New Jersey and New York.
