About Hunt M.

Hunt M. Willis chose a path that led from political science into the law. He earned a B.S. in Political Science from Appalachian State University in 2005. Eight years later he completed his legal education at Campbell Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2013. Those two degrees framed an early interest in how law, policy and public life intersect.

Straight out of law school he entered practice as an attorney at Martin & Jones, PLLC in 2013. That initial year in private practice gave him exposure to the daily demands of client work and courtroom preparation. Colleagues from that period remember him as steady and methodical, the kind of lawyer who keeps detailed files and shows up prepared.

Willis is licensed to practice in North Carolina. Over the years he has maintained a presence across several of the state’s population centers. He works from offices in Raleigh, Durham and Wilmington, allowing him to handle matters across different communities and court calendars. That geography shapes how he organizes his caseload and meets clients where they live and work.

His background in political science informs his approach to legal problems. He tends to weigh the broader context of a matter—statutes, local rules, and administrative practices—alongside the more immediate legal issues. This habit of looking beyond a single pleading or hearing can change how a case is prepared. It also affects how he advises clients about timing and potential outcomes.

People who have worked with him describe a pragmatic style. He breaks complex legal concepts into clear steps. He prefers to present options rather than promises. In conferences and hearings he aims to be precise and concise, keeping arguments tied to the record and the governing law.

Outside of court, Willis has continued to deepen his professional ties in the state. He remains engaged in the legal community and keeps current on North Carolina practice and procedure. He balances client work with the administrative responsibilities that come from running matters across multiple offices.

He practices law in North Carolina from offices in Raleigh, Durham and Wilmington.
