About Honora Mckeown

Honora McKeown Gathings is a founding partner at Gathings Law, located in Birmingham, Alabama. Her academic journey began at Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued a legal education at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, graduating in 1978. During her time at Cumberland, she made significant contributions to the legal community by serving on the Moot Court Board from 1976 to 1978 and acting as Associate Editor of The American Journal of Trial Advocacy. These roles not only developed her legal skills but also laid the groundwork for her future career. Admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1979, Mrs. Gathings has accumulated over four decades of legal experience.

She also became a member of the Florida Bar Association in the same year, expanding her practice across state lines. Her diverse practice areas encompass personal injury, family law, consumer law, and environmental law. Throughout her career, she has managed complex litigation cases, including business torts, toxic and environmental torts, and serious personal injury claims. Her expertise extends to consumer class actions, products liability, and fraud, showcasing her versatility in various legal fields.
