Hillary Ryan Ross is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in both California and Colorado. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002, holding, and to the Colorado Supreme Court in 2010, with. Her license status in both states is currently active. Ms. Ross is a partner at Fisher & Phillips LLP, a law firm specializing in labor and employment law, with offices in Denver, Colorado. She practices primarily in the jurisdictions of Colorado and California, serving clients in these regions.
Ms. Ross earned her Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2002, graduating cum laude. During her time at Pepperdine, she served as the Production Editor for the Pepperdine Law Review and was a member of the Interschool Moot Court Team. Prior to law school, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Woodbury University in 1998, also graduating cum laude. Her academic background has provided a strong foundation for her legal career, particularly in areas requiring analytical and interpersonal skills.
Ms. Ross specializes in labor and employment law, focusing on litigation and trials, counseling and advice, and wage and hour issues. She represents employers in labor and employment-related litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as in appellate matters. Her experience includes claims involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and reasonable accommodation. Additionally, she has extensive experience with single plaintiff as well as class and collective actions involving employee classification, wage payment, minimum wage, overtime, and meal and break issues. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in these matters and before administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Colorado Civil Rights Division, and the Colorado Division of Labor and Employment.
Throughout her career, Ms. Ross has handled cases in various courts, including the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California state courts. Prior to joining Fisher & Phillips, she focused on personal injury claims, employment, consumer claims, and class actions for a West Coast-based litigation law firm. She has represented employers with respect to all employment issues in various industries, including hospitality, health care, and security. Her diverse experience has equipped her to handle complex legal issues across multiple jurisdictions.
Ms. Ross is an active member of several professional associations, including the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, the Colorado Women's Bar Association, the Arapahoe County Bar Association, and the Denver Bar Association. She currently serves as Vice President of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association Executive Board of Directors. She has previously served as the Treasurer, Secretary, and New Lawyers Chair of the CDLA Board; as a member of the New Lawyers Committee; and as the New Lawyers Chair to the CDLA Professionalism and Education Committee. She has taught Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on various topics for the CDLA and the Colorado Bar Association. Ms. Ross was nominated by her peers and rated as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2021 and 2022. She is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
