Heather Cheree Johnston is a licensed attorney in California, admitted to the State Bar in 2006 under license number 244991. She is the founder and managing attorney of Sapphire Law Group, a law firm specializing in estate planning, trust and estate administration, and business law. Ms. Johnston has been practicing law for over 19 years, serving clients throughout the greater Sacramento area and surrounding communities.
Ms. Johnston earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, graduating in 2006. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. During her time at McGeorge School of Law, she was recognized for her academic achievements and graduated with distinction.
Ms. Johnston's practice areas include estate planning, trust and estate administration, and business law. She represents individuals and businesses in matters involving wills, trusts, probate, business formation, and related legal issues. Her practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial consultations, document preparation, negotiations, and court appearances in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. Johnston has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding Sapphire Law Group, she was a shareholder at Trainor Fairbrook, a boutique real estate law firm, where she focused on transactional real estate matters.
Ms. Johnston is an active member of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Trust and Estate Section, where she has served in various leadership roles, including Vice-Chair of the Commercial Real Estate Transactions Group and Chair of the Title Insurance and Survey Committee. She has been recognized with an AV-Preeminent™ Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Super Lawyer Rising Star. Additionally, she has been a panelist for numerous local, state, and national seminars for attorney continuing legal education and industry groups.
