About Gregory Davis

Gregory Davis Smith built an academic foundation that crosses state and international lines. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Georgia in 2000, completed an MSc in International and European Politics at the University of Edinburgh in 2005, and returned to the University of Georgia for his Juris Doctor in 2006. Those years shaped an outlook that blends local practice with an eye to wider regulatory and political contexts.

Smith began practicing soon after completing law school. He established his own practice under his name in 2009, taking on matters that drew on his economics training and his interest in property and agricultural issues. In 2012 he became a partner at Smith Group, Lawyers at Law, a role that expanded the scale of his client work and firm responsibilities. By 2021 he was serving as president of Owen Title Company, Inc., a position that placed him at the intersection of title operations and transactional law.

His practice sits across two state jurisdictions. He is active in both Georgia and Florida professional circles and holds memberships that reflect the mix of real property, title, probate and agricultural matters in his caseload. He joined the State Bar of Georgia in 2016 and maintains involvement in its Real Property Section and Litigation Committee, along with ties to an Ag Law Section. In Florida he is a member of the Florida Bar’s Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section and the Florida Land Title Association. He also participates in the Tallahassee Bar Association and serves on the Tallahassee Board of Realtors’ Forms and Professional Development Committee.

Community and civic engagement has been a recurring part of Smith’s profile. He served on the Decatur County Tax Assessor Board and on the Decatur County FSA Committee, where he held the vice chair role. He has had leadership roles in local civic organizations, including a term as president of the Rotary Club of Bainbridge and board participation with the YMCA Bainbridge-Decatur County. Those roles reflect long-standing ties to both community governance and rural concerns.

Smith’s day-to-day work combines transactional and title-related practice with matters that touch probate and trust administration. He maintains an office listed at 218 E. Water Street and has worked through several firm structures, including private practice under his name and partnerships. His caseload commonly involves real estate closings, title issues and related probate or trust questions. He concentrates on real estate transactions, title matters, and probate and trust issues.
