Mr. Rapoport earned his Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law in 1988. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. During his time at UCLA Law, he was involved in various legal activities and developed a strong foundation in litigation and real estate law.
Mr. Rapoport concentrates his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, real estate disputes, and insurance matters. He represents clients in cases involving commercial and real estate contracts, fraud, corporate governance, trade secrets, trademarks, insurance bad faith, defamation, and network data breaches. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rapoport has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Prior to joining Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP in 2018, he was a partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP from 1988 to 1998 and served as Principal at the Law Offices of Gregg A. Rapoport, APLC from 2004 to 2018.
Mr. Rapoport is an active member of the State Bar of California and serves on the Editorial Board of the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine. He is also a member of the UCLA Real Estate Alumni Group and The Esquire Network. He has authored articles on data breach and insurance and is recognized as a Super Lawyer in his field.
