About Grant

Grant Snell studied economics and finance at the University of Texas at Austin, earning both a B.A. in Economics and a B.B.A. in Finance in 2000. He went on to Seattle University School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2005. Those dual undergraduate degrees and a law degree shaped a practice that bridges legal issues and financial realities.

He is admitted to practice in North Dakota, the District of Columbia and Montana. Snell has been a member of the Montana State Bar and the Northwest Montana Bar Association since 2008. He joined the American Bar Association the same year. In 2010 he became a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, an affiliation that signals sustained work in matters affecting older adults and their families.

Early in his career Snell built experience on questions where money and law intersect. His background in finance and economics informs how he evaluates estate matters, tax considerations and the financial implications of long-term care planning. Colleagues describe him as methodical. He approaches files by laying out the numbers, then fitting legal tools to those figures.

Over time Snell’s practice developed a practical tilt. He has worked on estate planning, guardianship and conservatorship issues, and the legal aspects of long-term care and Medicaid eligibility. He advises clients on how to protect assets while addressing care needs. He also counsels families on the decision-making process when a person’s capacity is in question. Membership in a national elder-law organization has kept him connected to developments in that area.

Outside casework he participates in local bar activities. His membership in regional and national associations gives him access to continuing education and to a network of lawyers who handle related matters. He has drawn on that network when matters require cross-jurisdictional coordination, especially given his admissions in multiple jurisdictions.

Snell’s work blends legal analysis with financial sense. He prefers practical plans that align legal documents with clients’ real-world circumstances. His practice addresses estate planning and elder-law matters, state guardianship and conservatorship questions, and the financial planning that accompanies long-term care decisions. He currently concentrates his practice on elder law, estate planning and related financial and incapacity issues.
