About Gerald J.

Gerald J. Pomerantz began his academic journey at Temple University, where he earned a B.S. in marketing and psychology in 1966. He continued his legal studies at the University of Toledo College of Law and received his J.D. in 1969. Those early years set the stage for a career that has involved work in federal and appellate courts across the country.

Across a long professional life, Pomerantz secured admissions to several high courts. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He also holds admissions in multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals, including the 3rd, 5th and 9th Circuits. Those credentials reflect sustained involvement in matters that require appellate procedure and federal appellate practice.

Pomerantz’s practice has centered on appeals and federal court litigation. His work has revolved around drafting appellate briefs, preparing records for appeal and addressing procedural complexities that arise in higher courts. He has worked on matters that touch on federal appellate standards and state-law questions reviewed by federal tribunals. The mechanics of appellate litigation — preserving issues for review, sequencing briefs and preparing for argument — have formed a steady part of his routine.

Colleagues and opposing counsel have described him as methodical in his approach to briefing and attentive to the technical demands of appellate rules. He has handled filings in courts with differing local practices, requiring adaptation to varied briefing rules and argument formats. That practical knowledge of appellate procedure has informed how he prepares appeals and engages with opposing counsel and court clerks.

Pomerantz’s academic background in marketing and psychology has continued to influence his legal work. Those disciplines inform how he frames arguments and anticipates how judges might read a brief. Over time he has combined legal analysis with attention to persuasion and presentation.

Now in the later stages of his career, Pomerantz remains active in appellate and federal court matters. He maintains admissions that allow him to handle appeals in several circuits and at the Supreme Court level. He currently concentrates on appellate advocacy and federal court litigation.
