About George C.

George C. Selby completed a liberal arts undergraduate education at the State University of New York, College at New Paltz, earning a B.A. in 2010 with studies in media management, journalism and business. He went on to law school at Vermont Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2014. Those academic years combined practical interests in communications and law, and they set the stage for a career that moves between research, advocacy and client counseling.

His early legal work began while he was finishing law school. In 2014 he served as a legal assistant and research intern at Klein Varble & Associates. That role involved discreet research tasks and support for case preparation. The following year he joined Michael A. Fakhoury, PC as an associate lawyer. At that firm he expanded client contact and courtroom experience, taking on responsibilities that ranged from drafting pleadings to participating in client meetings.

In 2017 he launched his own practice under the Selby Legal name. The move to a solo and small-firm setting reshaped his day-to-day practice. He oversees case strategy, manages client intake, and handles matters across the courtroom and the conference table. Running a practice has also meant attention to the business side of law—administration, networking and maintaining professional relationships.

Selby is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey. He holds membership in the New Jersey State Bar and participates in local professional groups such as Business Networking International in New Paltz. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with peers and with the communities where he works. Colleagues and clients see him more often in regional courts and administrative forums than in national venues.

His career path shows steady movement from support roles into lead counsel responsibilities. Tasks that began as research assignments evolved into courtroom appearances and client advisories. He has handled matters under the Selby Legal banner since 2017, applying the skills cultivated earlier in his career to the practical needs of individual and business clients.

He currently concentrates his practice on providing representation and legal counsel in matters arising in New York and New Jersey.
