About Gary K. Burger
Gary K. Burger Jr earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1988 and went on to receive his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1992. Those years of study set a clear path into trial work and civil litigation. He left school prepared for courtroom practice and entered the profession at a time when litigation was shifting in both procedure and technology.
He began his legal career at The Brasher Law Office in 1992. After eight years there he moved into partnership, helping to form Cantor & Burger, LLC in 2000. That firm work involved day-to-day case management, courtroom appearances and supervising younger lawyers. In 2015 he became a partner at Burger Law, LLC, continuing private practice and taking on leadership responsibilities within the firm.
Burger is admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois and in several federal venues, including the Federal Circuit, the 7th Circuit and the 8th Circuit. He holds board certifications from the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Advocacy and in Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy. Those credentials reflect specific training and testing in courtroom trial skills and the pretrial processes that shape major civil cases.
Outside the courtroom he is active in bar and trial lawyer organizations. He is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers, the American Association of Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He also serves as chairman of the Fundraising Committee for Plaintiff Lawyers at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, a role that combines organizational oversight with outreach to the legal community.
Colleagues describe Burger as experienced in civil litigation matters that proceed to trial and in the work that prepares a case for trial. His practice through the years has included case development, depositions, motion practice and jury trials in both state and federal courts. He continues to practice as a partner at Burger Law, LLC, handling civil litigation, trial preparation and courtroom matters in state and federal courts.
