About Gary
Gary Heslin trained in law at Loyola University New Orleans, where he earned his J.D. in 1973. He completed his undergraduate studies at LaSalle University in 1969, graduating with a degree in political science. Those formative years set the stage for a career that has included both courtroom work and judicial service.
Soon after law school, Heslin joined the New Orleans District Lawyer's Office as a prosecutor in 1976. That role put him inside the criminal justice system on a daily basis. He handled prosecutions, worked with investigators, and gained experience in trial procedure and case preparation that would shape his later work.
By the mid-1980s Heslin had moved his practice to Pennsylvania. In 1986 he established Heslin Law Office. Over the following decades he maintained a steady presence in the local legal community. He balanced private practice duties with occasional public assignments, moving between advocacy in the courtroom and the administrative demands of running a small firm.
Heslin has also served on the bench in a limited capacity. He holds certification as a Pro Tem Judge for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. In that capacity he has presided over matters on temporary assignment, conducting hearings and making rulings in the courtroom. That experience gave him a perspective on case management and the practical pressures judges face.
Outside the courtroom, Heslin has been active in professional circles. He joined the Philadelphia Bar Association in 1982 and remains a member. He is also a member of the Brehon Law Society, a membership he has held since 2012. These affiliations reflect a sustained engagement with local bar activities and professional networks.
Colleagues and clients describe Heslin as a lawyer who brings years of courtroom experience to his practice. His background as a prosecutor and his time serving as a pro tem judge inform the way he prepares cases for trial and addresses procedural issues. He has navigated criminal prosecutions and court calendars, and he draws on those experiences in private practice.
Heslin continues to practice from Heslin Law Office. He divides his time between client representation and occasional judicial assignments, and his current practice centers on litigation and court work at his firm.
