About Gary Evan

Gary Evan Gerson has spent decades in and around Pennsylvania’s courtrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973 and went on to receive his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1987. That combination of a local undergraduate education and a Pittsburgh-area law degree framed the start of a long legal career.

He began practicing after law school and built his work into a private practice. In 2001 he opened the Law Offices of Gary E. Gerson and remains the founding lawyer of that firm. Over the years he has handled matters across the state of Pennsylvania and maintained ties to the local bar.

Gerson’s professional affiliations reflect sustained involvement in criminal defense circles. He joined the Allegheny County Bar Association in 1991 and continues to be listed as an active member. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 1997 until 2011, and belonged to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers between 1997 and 2001. Those memberships suggest a long-term engagement with defense practice and with colleagues who handle contested criminal matters.

Colleagues and clients have known him for persistence in court, attention to procedural detail, and steady representation in contested hearings. He has worked both in trial settings and in pretrial stages, advising clients on strategy, evidence matters, and plea considerations. His background affords him familiarity with Pennsylvania criminal procedure and local courtroom practices.

Over time Gerson balanced casework with managing a small firm. Opening his own office in 2001 required shifting some attention to administrative duties: client intake, case management, and supervising case flow. That practical experience has informed how he allocates resources for trial preparation and client communication.

Outside of courtroom hours he has kept ties to the region where he trained and practiced. His long association with the Allegheny County Bar Association has kept him connected to local developments in law and procedure. He maintained memberships in state and national defense organizations during the late 1990s and 2000s, a period when developments in evidence and sentencing law were active topics among defense practitioners.

He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and works from the firm he founded. He currently handles criminal defense matters at the Law Offices of Gary E. Gerson.
