About Gary A.

Gary A. Wais built his legal foundation through a sequence of degrees that mix law, management and healthcare administration. He earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1978, then completed an MBA and a Certificate in Health Administration at the University of Miami in 1980. He finished his legal training at the University of Baltimore School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1983.

His career centers on practice in Maryland. He is admitted to the Maryland bar and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in both state and federal court. He serves as Senior Managing Partner at Wais, Vogelstein, Forman & Offutt, LLC, a role that combines case work and firm leadership. In that position he oversees other lawyers and participates directly in litigation and client counseling.

Wais balances courtroom work with organizational involvement. He belongs to the Maryland Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City and the Baltimore County Bar Association. He also holds memberships in advocacy groups such as the Maryland Association of Justice and the American Association for Justice. His professional affiliations extend to peer organizations that gather trial lawyers, including the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Colleagues describe him as steady in court and pragmatic in preparation. He brings a business-oriented background to legal problems, an approach shaped by his MBA and health administration studies. That combination informs how he evaluates claims, manages discovery and prepares witness presentations. He has worked on matters that require coordination across health, business and legal issues, and he applies both managerial and legal judgment to those cases.

Over the years he has balanced managerial duties with an active caseload. In the office he directs firm strategy and handles complex filings. In court he appears in jury and bench proceedings in Maryland’s state courts and in the federal courthouse in Baltimore. Outside the courtroom he takes part in bar activities and professional forums that shape practice standards.

He remains based at Wais, Vogelstein, Forman & Offutt, LLC, where he continues to practice and lead. He currently focuses on representing clients in Maryland state and federal courts as Senior Managing Partner at Wais, Vogelstein, Forman & Offutt, LLC.
