About Gar
Gar Robbins built a path to the courtroom that began in the classroom. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1979, then returned to school and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1987.
After law school Robbins established a practice grounded in litigation. Over the years he has secured admission to several federal and state courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the D.C. Circuit, the 4th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He is also admitted to practice in Maryland. Those admissions reflect steady work in both trial and appellate settings.
Robbins has been active in the legal community through bar and professional associations. He holds current membership in the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Maryland State Bar Association. He was a member of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association from 1992 until 2020. Those affiliations have kept him connected to colleagues across practice areas and to developments in state law.
His courtroom work ranges from hearings in local Maryland venues to arguments in federal appellate courts. He has pursued cases at different procedural stages and handled litigation that required navigation of state and federal procedures. His practice history shows repeated appearances across several levels of the judiciary, and he continues to maintain federal admissions that allow him to litigate outside Maryland.
Colleagues describe Robbins as methodical in preparing for trial and precise in drafting appellate filings. He combines years of courtroom experience with a steady approach to case strategy. He has represented clients in criminal defense matters and other contested proceedings; his membership in the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association signals ongoing involvement in that area of practice.
Robbins is currently associated with Chesapeake Meridian. In that role he continues to try cases and to appear in appellate matters as needed. He keeps an active docket in Maryland courts and in federal courts where he is admitted.
He maintains courtroom practice across state and federal levels and continues to represent clients in criminal defense and related litigation matters.
