About Brandon
Brandon Sloane has built a career that moves between busy courtrooms and the meticulous work of case preparation. He has held prosecutorial roles in both New York and Virginia and is admitted in multiple jurisdictions, including the District of Columbia and the Fourth Circuit.
He earned a B.A. in English and psychology from Georgetown University in 2006. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2011. Those years set the groundwork for a practice centered on litigation and courtroom procedure.
Sloane began his public-service career in New York as an assistant district attorney in Nassau County in 2011. That post put him in the center of local prosecutions, where he gained early experience in case intake, arraignments, and courtroom work. In 2014 he moved to Virginia and joined the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney. Over time he handled a range of felony and misdemeanor matters and became familiar with the rhythms of state trial practice.
In 2020 he took a position as deputy commonwealth’s attorney with the Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. The deputy role expanded his supervisory responsibilities and his involvement in case strategy. A year later he returned to Fairfax County as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney, continuing work on prosecutions and courtroom litigation.
Sloane is admitted to practice in New York, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that crosses state and federal lines and requires attention to differing procedural rules and appellate standards.
Throughout his prosecutorial work, Sloane handled trial preparation, evidentiary hearings, plea negotiations, and sentencing proceedings. He developed experience managing discovery, preparing witnesses, and drafting motions. Colleagues describe him as thorough in trial tasks and steady under the pressures of calendar-driven work.
He now practices at Dennis, Stewart & Krischer, PLLC. At the firm he represents clients in matters that arise in both state and federal courts, often drawing on his years in prosecutors’ offices. He currently focuses on criminal defense in state and federal courts.
