About Fariah

Fariah Amin built her legal foundation through formal study and front-line placements. She earned a B.S. in Political Science and Journalism from New York University in 2007 and completed her J.D. at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2010, where she took coursework in family law. Those years set the stage for a career that moved quickly from internships to courtroom exposure and agency work.

Early in her career she worked as a legal intern in 2008 at both the Nassau County Family Court and CAIR New York. The internships offered two different vantage points: family court procedures and community-based advocacy. She went on to serve as a law clerk in 2009 at the Law Offices of Martin K. Lang, P.C., and shortly after graduation worked as a consultant for Garden City Group in 2010. These roles provided practical experience in case preparation and client services.

In 2012 she took a position as an agency lawyer with the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. That role placed her at the intersection of child welfare law and administrative practice. She later joined the New York Legal Assistance Group as a staff lawyer in 2014. At NYLAG she handled matters that required both litigation skills and attention to vulnerable populations, continuing a pattern of public-interest oriented work.

Amin moved into private practice in 2016 when she became the principal lawyer at Amin Legal Firm, P.C. As principal she oversees the firm’s operations and picks up a broad mix of cases. Her career shows steady movement from internships and clerkships to agency work and then to running her own practice. She is admitted to practice in New York and Texas, a qualification that reflects geographic breadth in her professional licensing.

Her background in family law, experience at child welfare agencies, and years at a legal services nonprofit inform the type of matters she handles today. Colleagues and former employers have noted her steady courtroom presence and familiarity with family court procedures. She currently leads Amin Legal Firm, P.C., where her practice centers on family law and related matters.
