About Esther Schwartz
Esther Schwartz Zelmanovitz earned her B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the City University of New York — Queens College in 1998. She continued her legal studies at Fordham University School of Law and received her J.D. in 2001. Those years shaped her understanding of public policy and the practical demands of counsel work.
After law school she built a practice in New York. Over time she combined courtroom work, transactional matters and client counseling. Her career has included involvement with professional organizations at both the local and national levels, and she has maintained a steady presence in the Nassau County legal community.
Her memberships include the American Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Nassau County Bar Association. Those affiliations are a steady part of her professional life. They reflect an interest in elder-law issues and in the networks that support probate, guardianship and estate planning practice.
In practice she handles matters clients commonly bring to attorneys who work in elder law and estates. That includes drafting wills and trusts, advising on Medicaid and long-term care planning, and representing clients in guardianship and probate proceedings. She deals with the paperwork and court filings these matters require, and she often coordinates with financial advisers, care providers, and family members to resolve disputes and plan for transitions.
Colleagues describe her work as careful and detail-oriented. She tends to explain legal options in plain language and to break down complex rules for clients facing time-sensitive decisions. Her approach is pragmatic. She focuses on achieving durable solutions rather than quick fixes.
Outside of casework she participates in bar association activities and continues to attend educational programs related to elder law and estate administration. Those programs keep her current on changes to Medicaid rules, guardianship procedures and estate tax developments. Her continuing involvement in professional organizations also gives her access to peer resources on unusual or difficult matters.
She currently practices in New York and focuses on elder law, estate planning, probate and guardianship matters.
