About Erik J
Erik J Christensen built his legal foundation at the University of California system. He earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California, Irvine, completing programs in Criminology, Law & Society (with a minor in Conflict Resolution) and in Psychology and Social Behavior. He then completed a J.D. at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2014.
His earliest legal experience included judicial externships at appellate and supreme court levels. In 2013 he served as a judicial extern at the First District Court of Appeal. The following year he was an extern at the California Supreme Court. Those placements came before he launched his own practice and began taking on client work in private practice.
By 2017 Christensen had opened Christensen Law Offices and also joined Diamond Baker Mitchell, LLP as a junior partner. He balanced running a principal practice with collaborative roles at other firms. In 2019 he moved to Littler Mendelson P.C. as a senior associate. That position was followed by a senior associate role at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in 2022. In 2023 he became a partner at Gold Summit Legal, Inc.
His experience spans courtroom assignments, counseling clients, and advising boards on governance and compliance. He has handled matters that required case preparation, briefing, and client-facing strategy. He couples legal work with project management credentials; he is certified as a Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.
Christensen has also taken on organizational and volunteer roles outside billable work. He served on the board of the Veterans Guest House from 2021 to 2022. Since 2022 he has been pro bono general counsel and a board member for the Nevada County Arts Council. He previously participated on a resolution committee for the Conference of California Bar Associations in 2017. Those positions reflect a mix of legal advisory and nonprofit governance responsibilities.
Colleagues describe a lawyer comfortable in both solo and large-firm environments. His path runs from judicial clerkships and private practice to roles at national firms and back to partnership in a smaller firm setting. He continues to combine client representation with board-level advisory work. He currently practices as a partner at Gold Summit Legal, Inc., and provides pro bono general counsel services to the Nevada County Arts Council.
