About Eric D.

Eric D. Gilman graduated from the University of Washington–Seattle in 2006 with a B.A. in Law, Societies & Justice and Political Science. He earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2009. Those early years of study established a foundation in trial procedure and statutory analysis that has shaped his approach to courtroom practice.

After law school Gilman joined Gordon Thomas Honeywell LLP and advanced to the firm's partnership. He has worked in private practice since then and regularly appears in both state and federal venues. His courtroom work includes appearances in the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

In court he combines preparation with pragmatic strategy. He handles pleadings, motions, and oral argument at the trial and appellate levels. That experience spans district court litigation and appellate briefing. He also manages case development and discovery in multi-jurisdictional matters.

Gilman maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington, and the Pierce County Bar Association. He belongs to the American Inns of Court (Hon. Robert J. Bryan, Chapter XXV) and participates in Pierce County Volunteer Legal Services.

Outside of litigation responsibilities he mentors law students through UWLS. Current students and recent graduates have sought his guidance on trial skills and professional ethics. He also contributes to pro bono efforts in Pierce County through volunteer legal services.

Colleagues describe Gilman as methodical in preparing cases and direct in court. He blends appellate perspective into trial planning, a habit reflected in his regular appellate appearances. His work remains grounded in courtroom practice and procedural rigor.

He practices at Gordon Thomas Honeywell LLP and his current work centers on litigation in both state and federal courts.
