About Eric
Eric Blankenship combines a long record in public service with steady private practice. He grew up drawn to words and argument. That led him first to the University of Southern Indiana, where he earned a B.S. in English and Communications in 1998, and later to Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where he completed his J.D. in 2002.
Blankenship began his legal career in county prosecutor offices. His earliest listed role is as a deputy prosecuting lawyer in the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office in 2002. He moved into supervisory work by 2006, serving as Supervising Prosecutor of the Major Felony Division in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. In 2011 he took the role of Chief Deputy Prosecuting Lawyer at the Blackford County Prosecutor’s Office. Those positions put him regularly in court and involved him in case preparation, evidentiary hearings and trial work.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in the courtroom and precise in briefing. He handled a wide range of felony matters as a prosecutor. That practical courtroom experience shapes how he approaches cases now. He has experience managing teams, mentoring junior attorneys and coordinating with law enforcement and victims’ advocates.
Blankenship has remained active in local bar organizations. He has been a member of the Blackford County Bar Association since 2012 and joined the Hamilton County Bar Association in 2020. Those memberships reflect ongoing ties to the counties where he has practiced and to the local legal community.
He later transitioned to private practice and is listed as practicing under Blankenship Law, LLC. In private practice he draws on years of trial experience and on the procedural knowledge gained in prosecutor’s offices. His approach is straightforward. He prepares cases with attention to the factual record and the tactical choices trials require.
Clients and colleagues say he brings a prosecutorial eye to defense and other matters, aiming to anticipate opposing strategies and respond early. He balances that litigation posture with routine case management and client counseling. He now practices at Blankenship Law, LLC, handling criminal cases and related matters.
