About Emmanuel
Emmanuel Iheukwumere built a legal life that mixes courtroom work, classroom teaching, and civic engagement. He arrived at law after completing a bachelor’s degree in 1990 and earned his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1995. Later, he added a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 2020.
His career has threaded through several institutional roles in Philadelphia and beyond. He served as an adjunct professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law for more than a decade, teaching and mentoring law students while continuing an active practice. Temple also recognized him as a Fellow of the Academy of Advocacy, an honor that reflects sustained involvement in trial skills education.
Iheukwumere has been active in bar and trial lawyer organizations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, having previously served on the Board of Governors of both organizations. In Philadelphia, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and previously served as that organization’s parliamentarian. He has also contributed to the Philadelphia Bar Association’s editorial work, including a term as Editor-in-Chief of The Philadelphia Lawyer magazine and ongoing work on its Editorial Board. His past service includes a term on the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.
Beyond professional groups, he holds memberships in national associations: the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, and the National Bar Association. He is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the Barristers Association of Philadelphia.
Outside legal organizations, Iheukwumere is an elder and serves on the session of The Presbyterian Church of Willingboro. That role is one of several civic commitments he has balanced alongside teaching and practice.
He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and in the District of Columbia. His Philadelphia office is located across from City Hall, near Love Park and the Municipal Services Building, placing him in the city’s legal and civic center.
Those who have worked with him note a steady investment in trial work and in training the next generation of litigators. He maintains a trial practice in Philadelphia and remains active in bar leadership, editorial projects, and legal education. He currently concentrates his practice on civil trial work in the Philadelphia area.
