About Emilie
Emilie Eschbacher built her legal foundation at Marquette University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2010 after studying writing-intensive English and history. She continued her studies at Saint Louis University School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 2014 and a Certificate in Health Law. She later pursued graduate legal study at Washington University School of Law, enrolling in an LL.M. program in 2016 and noting an expected Tax Law credential in May 2017.
Her early years in the practice mixed clinic work, judicial exposure and firm-based clerkships. While still in law school she served as a Rule 13 certified student lawyer in the Elder Law Clinic at Saint Louis University, where she worked directly with clients on issues affecting older adults. She took a judicial externship in 2013 with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, observing federal court procedure and research firsthand. Those experiences were followed by law clerk positions in 2012 at Summers Compton Wells LLC and at Jenkins and Kling, P.C.
After graduating she moved into firm practice. In 2014 she worked as an associate at Summers Compton Wells LLC and returned to that firm in a clerk role earlier in her career. By 2016 she was listed as an associate at Lathrop & Gage LLP. Her time at these firms exposed her to the demands of firm-level litigation and client counseling, and gave her practical experience on both transactional and contested matters.
Eschbacher’s academic credentials suggest a combination of interests. Her J.D. included a health law certificate, and her LL.M. studies concerned tax law. Clinic work gave her hands-on experience in elder law. Taken together, those elements indicate comfort with issues that cross healthcare, tax and clients’ personal planning needs.
She is admitted to practice in Missouri and maintains an active membership in the American Bar Association. Those affiliations have accompanied her through clerkships, a federal externship and associate roles at private firms.
Colleagues and former supervisors describe a lawyer who pairs courtroom observation and clinic-based client work with formal classroom study. Her career path shows steady movement from student practice and clerking into associate-level responsibilities at established firms. She continues to practice law in Missouri. Her current practice centers on matters arising at the intersection of tax and health-related legal issues.
