About Elisheva

Elisheva Patterson moved from rock formations to legal briefs. She arrived at law school after nearly a decade of studying the earth. The shift has shaped the way she approaches problems: methodical, evidence-driven and attuned to technical detail.

Her formal education begins in the sciences. She earned a B.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas in 2009 and followed that with an M.S. in Geology from the University of Oklahoma in 2011. Several years later she turned to law, earning a J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2020. The combination of graduate-level science training and a recent law degree gives her fluency in two different professional languages.

Patterson's path into legal practice has been shaped by that dual background. Geology requires careful gathering and interpretation of data. Law requires clear argument and close attention to procedure. She has spoken about the usefulness of cross-disciplinary thinking when parsing technical reports, preparing discovery, or explaining complex facts to clients and lay audiences.

She serves as an associate at Racine Olson. In that role she has worked on matters that benefit from an ability to read technical material closely and to translate it into legal strategy. Colleagues describe her as someone who likes to test assumptions and to make sure the factual record supports the legal theory.

In the office she is known for meticulous preparation. She prepares memos and briefs that trace issues back to the underlying data. She also spends time mentoring interns and newer staff on how to read scientific reports and regulatory filings. That combination of hands-on technical reading and legal drafting is a recurring theme in her work.

Outside the office she has continued to maintain ties to the sciences. Her earlier academic work in geology gives her a shorthand for discussing subsurface conditions, soil and rock behavior, and other topics that sometimes arise in disputes and compliance matters. That background can shorten the time needed to get up to speed on technical elements of a case.

Patterson is an associate at Racine Olson. She practices law in a role that draws on her geology training and legal education and concentrates on matters that intersect legal and technical issues.
