About Eliot M
Eliot M Houman took a path through both large law firms and nonprofit governance before starting his own practice. He earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and moved west to begin his legal career.
His early years in practice included a position at Rutan & Tucker in 2011. That role was followed by a 2012 appointment as general counsel and a board member at the Achievement Institute of Scientific Studies. He joined Robins Kaplan LLP in 2014, gaining experience at a national litigation firm. In 2017 he left to help start The Accident Guys, where he is a founding partner.
Houman’s career shows a mix of firm-side litigation work and institutional legal roles. At the Achievement Institute he handled governance matters and internal legal questions tied to a nonprofit organization. His time at Robins Kaplan and Rutan & Tucker exposed him to the demands of firm practice, including court appearances and case management. Those positions helped him build courtroom skills and an understanding of complex civil litigation procedures.
Outside of his employment history, he has been active in professional groups. He joined the Orange County Bar Association in 2012 and has been listed as a member since then. He also joined the Consumer Lawyers of California in 2015 and remains an active member. These memberships place him in regular contact with other trial lawyers and provide continuing legal education opportunities.
At The Accident Guys, Houman helped establish a practice that draws on his trial experience and his nonprofit governance background. He oversees case strategy, client intake and litigation planning. His colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and straightforward in client communications. He continues to handle hearings and trials when matters require it.
Houman lives and works in California and is admitted to practice in that jurisdiction. He has combined firm experience, nonprofit counsel work and the responsibilities of running a law office into a practice that emphasizes practical case management and client representation. His current practice centers on representing individuals in accident-related civil matters at The Accident Guys.
