About Edward J.
Edward J. Welch is the founding partner of Welch Law, PLLC. He practices across several jurisdictions and has combined private practice and governance roles over two decades. He is admitted in Florida, Georgia and the District of Columbia, and he runs a small firm that he started after a stint at a larger practice.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University in 2000. He went on to law school at the University of Miami, receiving his J.D. in 2003. Those years shaped his approach to problem solving. He studied human behavior and then learned to apply that study to legal questions.
Welch’s résumé shows movement between established firms and independent practice. In 2017 he was associated with Broad and Cassel. That same year he became the founding partner of Welch Law, PLLC. The two roles mark a turning point: a move from working within a larger firm to building a practice of his own. He has balanced client work with the administrative and strategic tasks that come with running a firm.
Outside the office, Welch has served on the board at Florida Atlantic University since 2015. That position adds an institutional perspective to his work. It also keeps him involved in matters that reach beyond everyday legal practice, such as higher-education governance and public engagement.
In private practice he draws on experience from both the firm environment and the responsibilities of firm leadership. He handles matters that arise in the jurisdictions where he is licensed. His practice reflects an understanding of how state and local rules interact with professional and institutional stakeholders.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approach and steady under pressure. He is known for making direct judgments about case strategy and for setting clear expectations with clients. That practical posture fits the practice he has built: a small firm that handles a range of legal issues while remaining responsive to the procedural realities of different courts and regulatory bodies.
He continues to lead Welch Law, PLLC and maintains active admissions in Florida, Georgia and the District of Columbia. He currently practices at Welch Law, PLLC, where his work concentrates on legal matters in the jurisdictions where he maintains admission.
