About Edie
Edie Rogoway built a legal path that moves from public defense to private practice and then to firm ownership. She earned her juris doctor from Southwestern Law School in 1999 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Southern California in 1995. Those academic years set the groundwork for a career that has spanned courtrooms and client conferences across the state and at the federal level.
Rogoway began her legal work as a staff attorney at the Metropolitan Public Defender in 2001. In that role she handled matters that required courtroom presence and client advocacy under time pressure. The public defender office was a formative setting, exposing her to trial work and the practical demands of representing people in criminal proceedings.
After several years in public defense, she moved into private practice. In 2008 she joined Smith Freed & Eberhard as an associate. Two years later she became a partner at Rogoway Green, a position she held until starting her own firm. That trajectory from associate to partner reflects a shift from working within larger firm structures to building and shaping legal services under her own name.
In 2014 she founded Rogoway Law. As owner, she has overseen the firm’s work and handled a range of matters that arise in state and federal settings. Her professional memberships include the Oregon Women Lawyers Association, where she maintains an active membership and participates in the professional community.
Rogoway is licensed to practice in Oregon and before the Federal Circuit. Those admissions permit her to take cases in state courts and to appear in federal appellate proceedings where the Federal Circuit has jurisdiction. Her experience in both public defense and private firms gives her a background in courtroom procedure and client representation that informs how she runs her practice.
Colleagues describe her as steady in court and methodical in preparation. Clients have relied on the firm for attention to deadlines and for legal work that moves between trial courts and appellate venues. Beyond client matters, she has maintained ties to local professional organizations and occasionally contributes to discussions on legal issues affecting women attorneys in Oregon.
As principal of Rogoway Law, LLC, she manages the firm’s operations and directs its casework. Her current practice concentrates on matters arising in Oregon and on proceedings before the Federal Circuit.
