About Drew S

Drew S Anderson is an Oregon lawyer who combines courtroom experience from both sides of the aisle. He joined Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group in 2021 and works on criminal defense matters at the firm. His path to defense work included years in county prosecutor offices and an early stint as a law clerk.

He earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2017. Before law school he completed a B.S. in History and American Studies at the University of Idaho in 2013. Those academic years gave him grounding in legal research, historical context and written analysis—skills that have come to shape his practice.

Anderson’s first law office role came in 2016, when he served as a law clerk at the Marion County District Attorney’s Office. That position exposed him to motion practice, evidence review and courtroom procedure. After law school he took a deputy district attorney position in Coos County in 2018. The following year he returned to Marion County as a deputy district attorney, continuing to handle charged cases and to take on responsibilities in court.

In 2021 he shifted to criminal defense work at Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group. The move altered his perspective. Instead of bringing charges, he began advising and representing people facing criminal allegations. His experience on the prosecutorial side informs his approach to case assessment, plea negotiations and trial preparation. He is experienced in courtroom settings, having handled filings, hearings and jury-related tasks across several county jurisdictions.

Professionally he maintains current memberships in bar-related organizations. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and keeps active ties to colleagues who practice criminal law across the state. Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and practical in client discussions. He handles investigations, discovery disputes and evidentiary questions that arise before and during trial.

Outside the office he has engaged in continuing legal education to stay current on developments in criminal procedure and state law. He has built a practice that blends public-sector prosecutorial experience with private defense advocacy. He currently practices at Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group and concentrates his work on criminal defense in Oregon.
