About Douglas

Douglas Newborn earned his J.D. from the University of Arizona in 2012 after participating in the school's Business, Bankruptcy and Trial Team. His time in law school combined courtroom training with the technical work of insolvency and commercial practice. That mixture of training helped shape the early direction of his legal work.

After law school, Newborn established his practice in Arizona. He joined the Pima County Bar Association in 2015 and began volunteering with the Pima County Volunteer Lawyers Program in 2016, roles he continues to hold. Those associations have kept him connected to local courts and community legal needs. They have also informed how he approaches client service and case preparation.

Newborn’s work draws on both litigation practice and transactional matters. He has handled contested matters in court and prepared filings and plans in bankruptcy proceedings. He is comfortable in adversary settings and in the document-heavy environment of commercial reorganizations. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical; he prioritizes clear recordkeeping and careful procedural work.

In the community, Newborn’s volunteer work has often brought him into contact with clients who cannot afford full-time counsel. Through the Pima County Volunteer Lawyers Program he has assisted individuals and small businesses with discrete legal problems. That volunteer work complements his private practice and keeps him attuned to practical problems clients face when a dispute affects day-to-day operations or family finances.

Clients and peers find that Newborn takes time to explain options plainly. He spends attention on strategy and on the steps necessary to reach enforceable results. He tends to break large problems into manageable phases and to highlight near-term milestones. This habit helps clients understand timing and likely outcomes as a case unfolds.

Newborn stays active in local bar activities and maintains ties to the University of Arizona law community where he trained. He has continued to follow developments in bankruptcy law and in commercial litigation trends that affect small and mid-sized enterprises. He also monitors procedural changes in Arizona's courts that can affect case management and deadlines.

He currently concentrates his practice on business and bankruptcy matters in Arizona.
