About Donovan B
Donovan B Dodrill built his educational foundation across three institutions and three disciplines. He earned a B.A. in psychology from Denison University in 1995. He followed that with an M.A. in modern and contemporary art from Ohio State University in 1998. He completed his legal training at New England Law | Boston, receiving his J.D. in 2005.
He began his legal career in litigation. His first post-law school position was as a litigation associate at Rainer & O Connor, LLC in 2005. A year later he moved to DiPiano Godson, LLP, where he continued handling civil matters that required courtroom preparation and case management. In 2007 he joined Yasi & Yasi, PC as a litigation associate. Those early years put him in trial settings and taught him how to manage factual investigation, expert work and witness preparation.
In 2009 he became principal at Plaza Injury Law. That step shifted him from associate duties to running matters and overseeing a practice. As principal he has handled filings, motions practice, discovery disputes and negotiations for settlement. He has taken cases through trial and negotiated resolutions in pretrial conferences and mediations.
Dodrill holds memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of Massachusetts and participates in the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He is also a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in Missouri.
His practice centers on litigation related to physical injury and harms that arise from accidents and negligence. He represents individuals in court and in settlement talks. He prepares pleadings, pursues evidence, consults experts and argues disputes over damages and liability. His office work includes drafting motions and responding to discovery. He spends a substantial portion of his time in depositions and hearings.
Clients and colleagues say he approaches each matter with a practical view of the legal and factual landscape. He maintains a case load that requires balancing courtroom time and client communication. He works out of Plaza Injury Law in Kansas City, where he oversees case strategy and daily operations. He currently focuses his practice on personal injury litigation in Missouri.
