About Don P.
Don P. Chairez built a legal life that moves between courtrooms and counsel tables. He is the sort of lawyer whose résumé reads like a map of two states: education on the West Coast, service on the Nevada bench, and ongoing practice that crosses state lines.
He earned undergraduate and law degrees on a steady track. He attended Loma Linda University, where he completed a B.A. in History in 1977 after beginning studies in 1973. He then continued to the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and received his J.D. in 1980, completing that course of study after beginning in 1977.
Chairez holds licenses to practice in both California and Nevada. That dual admission has shaped the arc of his career, allowing him to move between jurisdictions and to represent clients whose matters span state boundaries. Public records list both states among the jurisdictions where he is authorized to practice law.
In 1994 he served on the Clark County District Court in Nevada. That judicial role placed him in the heart of Nevada’s trial court system. The record notes his service on that court in 1994, a year that marked his presence on the bench in Clark County. The experience of standing as a judge gave him a vantage point on trial procedure, evidentiary questions and courtroom management that later informed his work outside the judiciary.
After his time on the bench he returned to the practice of law. Over the years he has taken cases and matters that require familiarity with the rules and rhythms of both California and Nevada courts. He brings the perspective of a former district court judge to litigation strategy, settlement discussions and courtroom preparation. Colleagues and opposing counsel have noted that a former judge’s instincts can change the pace of negotiations and filings.
Chairez combines courtroom experience and dual-state admission to handle matters that reach across jurisdictions. He currently practices in California and Nevada, representing clients in proceedings before state courts.
