About Dominique
Dominique Tansley graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law, earning her J.D. there before beginning her legal career in Hawaii. Her law school years placed her at the center of the state’s legal community. She studied alongside peers who went on to work in courts, public agencies and private practice across the islands.
Tansley’s professional path led her to assume a leadership role at Ohana Legal. As lead lawyer, she manages the firm’s legal work and day-to-day operations. She supervises case preparation, advises clients on their options, and appears on behalf of clients when matters require formal representation. Colleagues describe her approach to running a small firm as pragmatic; she balances client needs with the administrative duties that keep a practice functioning.
Her practice is based in Hawaii and she is admitted to practice in that jurisdiction. That local admission shapes how she works. She draws on knowledge of state courts and local procedures when preparing filings and when handling contested matters. She also handles transactional and advisory matters that require careful attention to detail and local law. Tansley’s experience in the islands informs how she communicates with clients and how she approaches case strategy.
Outside of individual casework, running a firm has widened her responsibilities. She is involved in mentoring junior lawyers and support staff. She oversees client intake and files, and maintains relationships with community contacts who are often part of resolving client matters. The role demands both legal skill and organizational judgment. It also requires a steady presence for clients navigating legal issues in a state setting.
Tansley’s career reflects steady practice in the Hawaiian legal environment rather than a series of high-profile public roles. She remains based in the islands and oriented toward matters that arise under Hawaii law. Her work combines courtroom representation where needed, written advocacy when cases require it, and counseling clients through legal decisions.
She currently leads Ohana Legal and practices law in Hawaii.
