About Derek M.
Derek M. Causey earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law, completing the degree in 2013 after beginning studies in 2011. He left law school with classroom experience in Texas procedure and courtroom practice. The J.D. capped a three-year journey through one of Houston’s established law schools.
He began practicing law in 2013 at Hope & Causey, P.C. That year marked his transition from student to practicing attorney in Texas. Early on he took on responsibilities common to small-firm practice: client counseling, court filings and courtroom appearances. Over time he sustained a steady presence at the firm and in local legal circles.
Causey maintains an active connection to the profession through local bar activity. He is a current member of the Montgomery County Bar Association. That involvement keeps him engaged with peers and with developments in the Texas legal community.
His work is anchored in Texas jurisdiction. He operates from two offices in the state: one in Kenedy and another in Conroe. The dual locations allow him to meet clients in different communities and handle matters that arise across the region. He splits his time between office work, client meetings and the courtroom when matters require it.
Colleagues describe him as a familiar presence at the firm where he has practiced since 2013. He has built a practice that relies on practical problem-solving and routine courtroom work. As of 2026, he continues to practice at Hope & Causey, P.C., working from the Kenedy and Conroe offices and serving clients across Texas.
