About Deacon

Deacon Haymond is the founder and managing director of Haymond Law, a firm that specializes in estate planning, probate, and tax law. Since 2004, he has been practicing law in Utah, focusing on helping clients preserve their wealth and plan their legacies. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Deacon has a strong connection to the local community. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Utah in 2000, laying a solid foundation for his legal career. After completing his undergraduate studies, Deacon pursued his Juris Doctor at the S.J — Quinney College of Law, graduating in 2004. During his time in law school, he gained inexperience by interning with the Honorable Judge Frederic Oddone in the Third District Court.

This internship provided him with insights into the judicial process. Additionally, he served as a senior staff member for the Journal of Law and Family Studies, further enhancing his understanding of legal issues related to family and estate matters. Following his graduation, Deacon passed the Utah State Bar in 2004 and began his career at a boutique asset protection and wealth transfer law firm. His next significant role was at Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough, where he developed the Park City practice, specializing in trust administration and probate matters. This experience allowed him to refine his skills in estate planning and broaden his expertise in legal issues affecting families and individuals. In 2010, Deacon took a significant step by founding Haymond Law, aiming to provide comprehensive estate planning services to clients across Utah.

Under his leadership, the firm has expanded to include offices in Park City and Cottonwood Heights. Haymond Law offers a range of services, including estate planning, probate administration, and tax law, ensuring that clients receive tailored solutions to meet their needs. Deacon is also an accredited practitioner before the Veterans Administration, demonstrating his commitment to serving veterans and their families. Active in the legal community, Deacon is a member of several professional organizations, including WealthCounsel and the Advisors Forum. He is a past member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and has been recognized by his peers, being selected to Rising Stars in both 2009 and 2020. He is also a member of the Utah State Bar, Park City Bar Association, Salt Lake County Bar Association, and the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council.

Deacon regularly presents seminars on estate planning and is a certified continuing education instructor, ensuring he remains at the forefront of planning strategies with over 36 hours of additional legal education annually. In his personal life, Deacon enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. He is passionate about attending legal education conferences and engaging in outdoor activities in Summit County and the Wasatch backcountry.
