About David W.
David W. Haskett built his legal foundation through a mix of classroom study and courtroom work. He earned a law degree after coursework that included environmental law, employment and labor law, and educational law. Before law school he completed an undergraduate degree in history.
Early in his career Haskett served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey C. Manske at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas in Waco. That clerkship placed him in the federal trial environment and exposed him to civil litigation and courtroom procedure.
He later held a legal externship in employment and labor law with the in-house counsel office at TriMet. He also worked as a research assistant at Buckley Law P.C., a role that kept him grounded in legal research and case preparation. In 2017 he was a law clerk to Joel J. Kent at Stahancyk, Kent & Hook, P.C., and he joined that firm the following year as an associate handling family law and estate planning matters.
Haskett’s training spans several practice areas. His law school studies included environmental and employment law, and his early professional roles exposed him to labor and employment issues, federal civil procedure, and client-centered practice in family law and estate planning. He also completed a child protection training program through Darkness to Light’s Kids Center Solutions.
Colleagues describe Haskett as methodical in the office and deliberate in court filings. He has experience drafting pleadings, assisting in discovery, and supporting contested family law matters. His background in federal clerkship work informs how he approaches litigation tasks and deadlines. He brings that practical knowledge back into the firm’s family and estate files.
Haskett is admitted to practice in Oregon. He maintains a practice based at Stahancyk, Kent & Hook, P.C., where he works on family law and estate planning matters.
