About David A.
David A. Robinson completed his legal education at Washington and Lee University School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2010. Before turning to law, he studied accounting and finance at Virginia Tech, where he received a B.S. in 2004. That combination of legal training and a background in financial subjects is a recurring theme in his work.
Robinson began his legal career as an associate at The Lawrence Law Office, PLC in 2011. He spent those formative years handling a range of matters and building courtroom experience. In 2015 he moved into a partnership role at Gilbert, Bird & Weston, PC. The change brought more responsibility for case strategy and client counseling. Two years later he helped launch GBSR Lawyers, where he is a founding partner.
His membership in professional organizations reflects the path of his practice. Since 2015 he has been a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations keep him connected to peers who try cases and litigate at both state and local levels. They also signal an ongoing engagement with trial procedure and criminal defense issues.
Colleagues describe Robinson as deliberate in court and methodical in preparation. His accounting and finance background often appears in how he approaches evidence and financial records. He prepares filings patiently and places an emphasis on clear presentation of factual material. That steadiness has been part of his transition from associate to partner and then to firm founder.
At GBSR Lawyers he manages both client relationships and the operational aspects of a small firm. The office handles a mix of contested matters that can move from negotiation to trial. Robinson splits his time between casework, supervising younger lawyers, and handling administrative matters tied to running the practice. He has remained active in Virginia bar circles and professional groups since his early career.
Outside the office he has drawn on his accounting training when evaluating complex financial documentation in litigation. He also spends time mentoring junior attorneys at his firm. Robinson is based in Virginia and is licensed to practice in that state.
He currently practices at GBSR Lawyers, where his work concentrates on criminal defense and jury trial litigation.
