About Daniel P

Daniel P Leavitt earned his J.D. from Liberty University School of Law in 2006. He completed his legal education amid a period of shifting criminal justice debates, entering practice at a moment when courts and communities were grappling with changing rules and expectations. His academic credentials set the stage for a practice rooted in state-level litigation and client advocacy.

Leavitt is admitted to practice in Virginia. He maintains active professional ties through membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a relationship that began in 2010 and continues today. He has also been involved with the Virginia State Bar and listed connections to the Better Business Bureau. Those affiliations reflect an attorney who engages with both bar governance and community accountability networks.

Early in his career Leavitt took on leadership roles in local legal circles. From 2013 through 2015 he served as president of the Hopewell Bar Association. That tenure placed him in the center of county-level legal programming and bar activities, overseeing meetings, CLE arrangements and exchanges between bench and bar. Peers from that period recall an emphasis on practical training and clearer lines of communication between newer lawyers and more seasoned judges.

Leavitt’s membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers has shaped much of his professional orientation. He has participated in the association’s educational offerings and kept current on developments in criminal procedure and trial practice. His work reflects the everyday concerns of criminal defense practitioners: pretrial motion practice, evidence disputes, client counseling and trial preparation. He balances courtroom work with the administrative demands of running a practice that serves clients across multiple jurisdictions in Virginia.

He operates out of offices in Midlothian and Emporia. Those locations allow him to represent clients in both suburban and more rural settings in the commonwealth. The two offices suggest a practice that responds to regional needs and maintains local presence for hearings, consultations and court appearances.

Leavitt’s professional record is one of steady involvement in legal organizations and local bar leadership. He remains a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and continues to practice in Virginia. He currently concentrates his practice on criminal defense matters.
