About Daniel L.
Daniel L. Quinley took a circuitous route into the law. He began as an undergraduate at American University, earning a B.A. in History in 2006. He continued his studies at King's College London, completing an M.A. in 2012 after beginning that program in 2009. He then returned to the United States and enrolled at the University of California, Davis, School of Law in 2013, receiving his J.D. in 2016.
After law school, Quinley entered private practice. He is an associate at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, where he has worked on matters that draw on his academic and practical training. He is admitted to practice in California and has secured admissions to a range of federal forums, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Quinley’s professional memberships reflect an interest in environmental law. He holds current memberships in the State Bar of California and in the California Lawyers Association’s Environmental Law Section. Those affiliations signal regular engagement with the statutory and regulatory landscape that governs land use, permits, and environmental compliance. In his practice he handles regulatory and litigation matters that arise under environmental statutes, and he appears in state and federal proceedings connected to those issues.
Colleagues describe Quinley as methodical in preparing filings and attentive to the procedural demands of federal court practice. He has experience drafting briefs and navigating administrative record work, tasks common to environmental cases that involve agency decisions and permitting processes. He also assists in discovery and motion practice when matters proceed toward trial or appellate review. His training in history and international studies informs a careful approach to legal research and written advocacy.
He continues to work at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, where his caseload centers on environmental law matters and related federal litigation. He remains active in the California Lawyers Association’s Environmental Law Section and maintains standing in the State Bar of California while appearing in multiple federal courts.
He currently practices environmental law at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP.
