About Daniel J.

Daniel J. Krause trained at New York University, where he completed both a juris doctor and a master’s degree in philosophy in 1999. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1992 at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, studying English and political science. Those academic choices set a pattern of close attention to language and to the practical structures that govern public life.

Early in his career Krause served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. He entered military legal service shortly after finishing law school, gaining courtroom and administrative experience that would shape the next phase of his work. In 2000 he began practicing with Krause Donovan Estate Law Partners, LLC, where he handled matters related to estates and elder clients.

Since 2021 he has practiced at Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center. The firm name reflects the areas that dominate his docket: estate planning and legal issues that affect older adults and their families. Over the years he has moved between roles that combine client counseling, document drafting and representation in probate matters.

Krause holds certification as an Estate Planning Law Specialist from The Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc. That credential signals specialized training and an emphasis on estate planning in his file of cases. He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois, and he also has courtroom privileges in the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Wisconsin.

Outside the law, Krause has been active in local education governance. He has served on the Oregon Area School Board since 2013. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, a membership he has maintained since 1999. Those roles reflect an interest in public service and community institutions that intersect with the legal questions he confronts in practice.

Clients and colleagues describe a practitioner who leans on clear drafting and steady procedural handling. His work tends to involve wills, trusts, probate administration and the legal arrangements often needed as people age. He continues to practice at Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center, focusing on estate planning and elder law matters.
