About Daniel B
Daniel B Purtell trained in Wisconsin and abroad. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, listed as 1995, and spent time studying political science and general studies at Thames Valley University in London in 1993. He returned to Wisconsin for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1999.
His early legal work came soon after graduation. In 2000 he worked as a lawyer at Skemp and Associates, S.C. The next year he set out on his own and became owner and lawyer at Wilson Law Group, LLC. That move established him as a small-firm principal handling matters he continued to develop over the following decades in Wisconsin.
Purtell’s practice centers on estate planning and related areas. He holds two credentials from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils: Accredited Estate Planner and Estate Planning Law Specialist. Those certifications underline the technical side of what he does—drafting wills and trusts, advising on probate and estate administration, and addressing tax and succession questions that often come up for families and business owners.
Professional engagement has been a steady part of his career. He has belonged to the Wisconsin Council of Estate Planning Lawyers since 2003 and served as its president. He also belongs to regional and national groups such as the Madison Estate Council, WealthCounsel, and ElderCounsel. His membership in the American Agricultural Law Association reflects work that touches farm and rural clients. Outside strictly legal circles he is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Colleagues and clients see him as an attorney who stays involved in the communities and professional networks tied to estate planning. He has combined volunteer and association work with the day-to-day practice of advising clients on estate and succession questions. He maintains his practice in Wisconsin and continues to accept matters that involve estate planning, probate, and related business succession issues.
He currently practices from Wilson Law Group, LLC and handles estate planning, probate, and succession matters in Wisconsin.
