About Dane
Dane Garland built his legal foundation through steady academic work and a sequence of courtroom and firm roles. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2005. He went on to receive his J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2009 and completed an LL.M. at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2013.
After finishing his master’s degree Garland moved into public defense. In 2013 he joined the Carroll County Public Defender’s Office as an assistant public defender. That role placed him in the day-to-day demands of the courthouse and introduced him to the practical pressures of casework, client contact and calendar management.
He entered private practice the following year when he became an associate at Swindle Law Group in 2014. The move from public office to a firm setting broadened the range of matters he handled and exposed him to the business side of legal practice. A year later he became a partner at the same firm. As a partner he shared responsibility for case direction and for integrating case strategy with the firm’s operational needs.
In 2018 Garland took a position at Greer Tisinger. The listing for his current office shows him practicing there, and his career trace highlights a pattern of alternating public and private roles. His time in each setting informed the other. Work in public defense sharpened his trial instincts. Firm work required attention to client development and management of multiple matters at once.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical when it comes to case preparation. He tends to break complex problems into discrete steps. That approach fits courtroom schedules and client expectations. He also places emphasis on timely communication, something that former clients and staff often raise when discussing an attorney’s day-to-day conduct.
Garland has kept his academic credentials current through continuing legal education and the LL.M. program he completed in 2013. That background supplies an additional layer of study on top of the J.D. he earned in 2009.
He currently practices at Greer Tisinger, where his work centers on litigation and client representation, drawing on his years in both public defense and firm practice.
