About Craig Ivan
Craig Ivan Kelley is the managing partner at Kelley Kaplan & Eller, P.L., where he directs the firm's work in bankruptcy and related commercial litigation. He is known inside the courtroom and at the negotiating table. Colleagues describe him as steady and precise. He handles complex creditor and debtor matters and represents clients in federal bankruptcy courts across Florida.
He attended the University of Miami School of Law. His time there provided the foundation for a career centered on insolvency and reorganization. He has continued to build on that foundation through practice and participation in bar groups that shape bankruptcy practice in the state.
Kelley rose to the role of managing partner after years working on Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 matters and contested hearings. At the firm he manages case strategy and client relations, and he supervises teams handling motion practice and plan confirmations. His role combines courtroom work, negotiation and the management tasks that come with running a midsize practice. He often appears in the Southern District of Florida bankruptcy court and files matters across the state.
He is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida and of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Those memberships keep him connected to peers and to developments in bankruptcy law and procedure. He attends local bar events and panels and follows rule changes and appellate decisions that affect trustees, creditors and debtors alike. Inside the firm he draws on that engagement to advise clients on restructuring options and on the practical effects of recent case law.
Clients at the firm range from small business owners to secured creditors, and the matters he handles include contested cramdowns, objections to discharge, and adversary proceedings. He balances litigation and negotiated outcomes. The firm combines courtroom practice with out-of-court resolution efforts, often seeking a practical path through chapter and non-chapter solutions. He continues to practice in Florida federal bankruptcy courts and to lead the firm's bankruptcy practice.
He currently practices bankruptcy and insolvency law in Florida, overseeing bankruptcy litigation and reorganization matters at Kelley Kaplan & Eller, P.L.
